Leg breaks when kicking opponent. MMA leg break injuries. Breaking your own leg!
How does someone break their leg while kicking someone else??
Why has it happened so many times?
Fighters in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), kickboxing, and Muay Thai, have been injured when they through the kick. Once in a while when a fighter throws a round kick intending to hit their opponent on the side of the leg or to the body it goes wrong. Injury can be devastating and possibly career ending.
When the fighter throws the kick and their opponent checks the kick (blocks it) the impact is horrible for the kicker. Most of the time the checked kicked has the impact on the shin so the fighters hit shin to shin but sometimes the person kicks the opponents knee or just below the knee and there is no give there so if it is a hard kick the shin just folds across the opponents knee. Sometimes the break is obvious on impact sometimes it becomes obvious when the kicker puts their weight back down on the kicking leg. The leg cant hold the weight and just bends in the middle of the shin. Painful to watch.
These professional and amateur fighters suffered a horrible break. Some were UFC champions!

Many of those injuries could have been prevented if the person getting submitted would have tapped out.
