Deadly! MISSILE Agm 84 Harpoon Malaysia, Anti-Ship Missile Very Fierce And Sophisticated
The Harpoon (AGM84/UGM84/RGM84) is a type of anti-ship missile (including submarines) that can operate in all weather and over-the-horizon altitude ranges. This missile was originally developed and produced by McDonell Douglas (currently Boeing Defense, Space & Security) and has been in operation since 1977. Since then this missile has undergone various developments and is still actively operated and has a wider range of use. Currently, there are four types of Harpoon development and modifications used, namely AGM84 for standard use as anti-ship missiles without solid-fuel rockets as boosters, RGM84 using solid-fuel rockets and mounted on surface ships, UGM84 using solid-fuel rockets that are encapsulated and mounted. on submarines, as well as other versions placed on coastal fortifications.
The United States Navy began development of an emerging anti-submarine missile targeting submarines in the 1960s. The sinking of the Eliat, an Israeli warship, by the Soviet Union's P-15 Termit missile in 1967 led the United States Navy to accelerate development this missile by hiring McDonnell-Douglas to begin development of the Harpoon missile.
